GORDON Castle has pledged to donate to a wildlife trust with sales of its luxury products.

The castle enterprise at Fochabers has linked up with the Atlantic Salmon Trust to support its mission to solve and reverse the mystery decline of Scotland's wild iconic fish.

Gordon Castle Scotland, as one of a number of corporate partners, will donate 10% from every product sold using code GCSALMON to the trust’s Missing Salmon Project.

The business produces and sells its own gin brand, soaps and body lotions, china, candles and chutney.

Launched in 2018, the Missing Salmon Project supports the conservation of wild Atlantic salmon and the environment.

Mark Bilsby, chief executive officer at the trust, said: "The Atlantic Salmon Trust really welcomes the support from Gordon Castle Scotland in helping us find out where our salmon are going missing.

"With the help from the brand and others we will continue to follow the salmon as they migrate down from the headwaters and out to sea in the Moray Firth, providing insights to where they are dying, and more importantly, guide us in better looking after them."

The Moray Firth Tracking Project is a key part of the Missing Salmon Project, which has tagged 800 salmon smolts since launching in spring.

Starting in the Moray Firth, the project will last three years and tracks wild salmon as they migrate to sea. Salmon smolts have been tagged from seven rivers, including the River Spey.

Gordon Castle operates one of the largest salmon fisheries in Scotland.

Angus Gordon Lennox, owner of Gordon Castle, said: "We are delighted to be supporting the Missing Salmon Project in its vital research to help save this iconic fish.

"Gordon Castle has been at the centre of salmon fishing for centuries and we are thrilled that our unique range of luxury products will go some way to help ensure that there are salmon in our rivers for centuries to come."
