A NORTHERN Scot reader has managed to capture photos of birds around Moray.

Hazel Thomson, a regular wildlife contributor, spotted a great spotted woodpecker at The Bird Hide at Loch Spynie, and a robin and stonechat in Burghead.

She said: "I spotted a great spotted woodpecker having a nice time drumming an old tree trunk and finding some little bugs down by the Spynie bird hide.

"I then had a lovely walk along the shore at Burghead and these two lovely birds were flying up, catching little flies and settling down again.

"It was great fun to watch the stonechat and robin. They didn’t seem a bit shy of the camera and let me get quite close."
