A GREENS MSP has urged the people of Moray to get familiar with local restrictions and stick to the rules to help bring the coronavirus crisis under control.

Scottish Greens Highlands and Islands MSP John Finnie made the call as it was confirmed that Moray would be placed into level 1 from Monday, November 2.

He also called for more information on what support would be made available if Moray's tier level were to change in the weeks and months ahead.

Mr Finnie said: "I know the last few months have been hard for people in the Moray, particularly those who have lost a loved one due to the pandemic.

"It’s essential that we all continue to follow local guidance to allow us to bring the virus under control as soon as possible.

"It’s important too that both governments make adequate support available to individuals and businesses to support them through these difficult times.

"Clarification is required on what support will be available when restrictions change if the area is moved up or down a level."

He added: "The UK Government’s decision to end the furlough wage support scheme at this time is hugely irresponsible and I once again urge the Chancellor to reconsider.

"Moray Council must also be given the resources it requires to continue supporting the most vulnerable in our communities and to ensure it can enforce regulations as necessary."
