Made up of 32 pupils, the choir rehearses every Monday after school.

They triumphed in the festival’s ‘action song’ category while also coming joint second in the class for older primary-age children.

Greenwards teacher Kirstin Mustard, who leads the choir and accompanied them to the festival said: “I’m so proud of all the children.

“They love being part of the choir and were so excited to take part. Coming away with two distinctions and a trophy made all their hard work worth it.”

Inverness Music Festival is a showcase for all amateur performers who share a love of music and creative arts. It includes a range of performances from speech and debating to groups/ensembles and traditional music.

Kathleen Robertson, who leads Moray Council and also chairs its education committee, said: “It’s great to see Moray’s children and young people experiencing first-hand the joy that music brings.

“Congratulations to the Greenwards Primary School choir. This is a fantastic achievement and you should all be very proud.”
