AN ELGIN primary school has emerged victorious from this year's Euroquiz event in Moray.

Four pupils from Greenwards Primary beat off competition from nine other schools to win the Moray Euroquiz heat.

Loukas Gennis, Rory Kerr, Baillie Milton and Neala McFadden took home top prize and will now go on to compete in a national final at Holyrood on June 13 against winners of heats from other local authorities around Scotland.

Greenwards Primary head teacher Sarah Grant said: "We are extremely proud of Baillie, Neala, Loukas and Rory and the effort they have put in.

“They started studying in P5 in preparation for the school competition. They have shown a passion for learning and are excited to continue their studies in preparation for the national event.”

Euroquiz is an annual project for primary six pupils in Scotland, which sees teams challenged on their knowledge of Europe and the world.

Four rounds cover questions on geography, history, languages, culture and European affairs and general knowledge.

All those who participated receive a certificate to mark their hard work.
