THE chance to go back to the classroom is being offered to alumni from four Moray schools.

DYW Moray are running an event called Alumni Rewind: A Night of School Memories, which will invite former pupils, current pupils, former teachers, and the community to come together for an evening of reminiscing and networking.

The schools involved in the event are Buckie High, Lossiemouth High, Elgin High and Elgin Academy.

Events in Buckie and Lossiemouth will take place on Monday, June 24, with both Elgin schools are on Tuesday, June 25. All events run from 5.30pm until 8pm.

Evenings will commence with a warm welcome from the head teacher, before hours filled with nostalgia and camaraderie.

Following this, current pupils will share talk on the importance of community engagement with the school, highlighting the role former pupils and local residents can play in shaping the future of education.

A pivotal component of the event will be the address by an inspirational former pupil keynote speaker, who will reflect on their journey since leaving secondary school, offering career insights and anecdotes to inspire the audience.

Attendees will then have an informal session where they can participate in various activities, including school tours led by current pupils, exploring old photos and yearbooks.

Throughout the evening, attendees will have the opportunity to network with old classmates, former teachers and community stakeholders, forging meaningful connections and discovering avenues for collaboration and support.

Light refreshments will be provided, and background music will be played by the school’s talented musicians.

Sarah Barnes, programme manager for DYW Moray, said: “We are excited to bring together past and present members of our school community for an evening of celebration and reflection.

“As a former pupil of Buckie High School, I am myself excited to visit my old school, to walk the halls and reminisce about my time there.

“Alumni Rewind provides a platform for us to reconnect, share memories, and explore ways in which we can continue to support the growth and development of our former schools. So please support your old school and register for a free ticket.”

Former pupils are encouraged to mark their calendars for this special event.

For more information and to RSVP, please visit the following online registration forms. The remaining Moray secondary school events will take place later in 2024.
