A HEADSHAVE, inspired by the tragic death of a wrestler, has raised £220 for mental health charity.

Adrian 'lionheart' McCallum took his own life, aged 36, in June – months after attempting to save a neighbour who died in a fire.

Ryan Perrie (24) from Elgin wanted to honour a wrestler he admired and did so by shaving his hair – which he had been growing for a year – for the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH).

He aimed to raise £210 and did more than that, raising a total of £220.

He said: "I (had) been growing my hair for over a year and was planning on doing a sponsored headshave when hearing the terrible news of Adrian Lionheart McCallum's tragic passing.

"I (saw) the amazing support everyone in the wrestling community gave to Lionheart's family already and knew I wanted to do something to honour one of my favourite wrestlers.

"I aimed to raise £210 or £10 for every championship he won."

Ryan had met Mr McCallum on a couple of occasions and said he is much more than a wrestler.
