Catie Carter was again among the goals, claiming four, while Caitlin Carnergie, Regan Duncan and Emma Laing each grabbed one. It was a special moment for Laing, the strike marking her debut goal for the club. Coming on as a sub and playing up front rather than her usual midfield beat, she netted with her first touch of the ball.

The visitors had the game well and truly by the scruff of the neck by half time having established a 6-1 lead.

Buckie boss Mel Smith said: "The windy conditions made it hard to get the ball moving at times but we passed and moved well.

"We played very well and we're really gelling as a team. Our levels of fitness are showing through, especially in difficult games, and we're letting the ball do the running which is vital when you're playing in hot or windy conditions as we have been doing the past couple of weeks.

"Even at 6-1 I told the quines to stay focussed as football can be very fickle.

"I'm delighted for Emma getting her debut goal – she controlled it with her first touch and put it away."

The game was a first of a double header against the Highlanders – Clach visit Merson Park on Sunday, June 26 on league business before Buckie play Sutherland the following Sunday in Nairn in the final of the Highland and Islands League Cup.

Smith continued: "It's important we stay focussed on each game as it comes, we know we've got an important league game then a cup final to come in our next two games.

"We can't let previous scores between the teams make us complacent, we've got to stay focussed.

"We know a lot about Clach, we know how they play and where their threats come from but that doesn't mean we're taking anything for granted."
