A Highlands man has been remanded in custody after £4.4million of cocaine was seized on the M25 London ring road.

Michael Buttery, who's from Kinbrace, was driving a silver Ford Ranger when he was stopped by the police.

Two large bags containing 55 kilos of cocaine were found inside the vehicle.

The discovery was made by the Organised Crime Partnership, a joint team consisting of officers from both the National Crime Agency and the Metropolitan Police.

The 53-year-old appeared at Guildford Magistrates’ Court on Monday and was remanded in custody.

His next court appearance is due on January 19.
