ELGIN City Band will fill a Moray hotel with music as members showcase songs from the screen and stage.

The concert will take place at the Laichmoray Hotel on Friday, May 24, and promises a night of easy listening entertainment.

Founded in 1858, the City Band is one of the oldest in Scotland and initially brought together tradesmen from across the community.

It now has around 30 members of all ages playing under the baton of musical director Bob Garrity, with rehearsals taking place a Bishopmill Primary.

John Marshall, who joined the band in 1950 at the age of 10, said the concert is one of eight performances the group will give between now and Christmas.

Elgin City Band regularly performs at charity fundraising concerts as well as at carol services, Remembrance events, parades and other community gatherings.

The May 24 concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets are available on the door.
