The Moray and Banffshire Heroes 2023 will take place at Brodie Countryfare.

There are 12 different categories with shortlisted candidates who will take their place at the awards dinner.

Brave Child of the Year, sponsored by MacDuff Shipyards, will recognise someone who has overcome adversity to shine.

Primary Pupil of the Year (Andrew Smith Family Funeral Directors) and Secondary Pupil of the Year (UHI Moray), and Primary Teacher (William R Mair Funeral Directors) and Secondary Teacher (Associated Seafoods) will shine a light on the local education sector.

Motive, energy industry specialist, sponsors the Emergency Services Hero of the Year.

Volunteer of the Year (Robertson group) will recognise people who have gone above and beyond in their community.

Local groups and charities rely on fundraising and there are three nominees in that category, sponsored by Northern Asbestos.

Community Champion of the Year has a diverse shortlist and is sponsored by Walker's.

Two awards will focus on those providing care with Carer of the Year (Parklands) and Healthcare Hero (Specsavers).

And as the journey towards Net Zero intensifies, we have a Green Hero award, recognising someone who has done good locally to promote a more environmentally-friendly future.

The evening will conclude with an overall Hero of Heroes (A M McPherson) – chosen from the individual category winners.

Look out for reports, pictures and video from the evening on our website from Friday morning.
