Hopeman Gala starts this week with seven days of family activities

HOPEMAN Gala will begin on Saturday, with an impressive week-long programme of activities and events.

More than 40 events will take place over the Gala week, which will run from 15 - 22 July.

Highlights include the return of the ever popular sandcastle competition, the raft race, plus several quizzes and discos.

Events will begin on Saturday with a competition at the bowling club, followed by entertainment from 9pm until 12am.

Sunday will include a family fun afternoon, songs of praise and a family quiz.

On Monday, locals and visitors alike can attend a fun fitness class, or take part in the fancy dress competition and family disco event.

Tuesday will see five-a-side football tournaments take place for children and adults, with a music quiz and football prize take place at the Station Hotel.

Wednesday will include a dance fitness class and the popular pet show, with the raft race and harbour night event taking place that evening.

On Thursday, families with children can attend the teddy bears picnic, with tombola and a quiz night taking place that evening.

Friday,will see the sandcastle competition take place, along with the skate park competition, a car treasure hunt and the family disco.

Events will conclude on Saturday July 22, with a fete and festival taking place at the village marquee and park.
