Proposals to build two new schools and a housing development on the outskirts of Elgin have taken a step forward.
What's known as a notice of application has been lodged with Moray Council for a 450 pupil primary to the north of the town near Covesea Road.
Meanwhile, a second notice has been lodged which involves building a housing development containing a school to the south west of the town.
With major developments such notices of application are submitted ahead of formal planning applications being made.
This is designed to allow extra time for councillors and the public to make comments about what's being proposed.
The school site to the north is about two football pitches in size and currently farmland.
The notice has been submitted by Moray Council's own education department and also includes a nursery, an additional support needs unit, an outdoor play area, a car park and a drop-off point.
It is part of what's called the Findrassie masterplan, which relates to development of the north side of town.
The notice for the proposed housing development and school to the south-west of the town has been submitted by Springfield Properties.
Members of the council's planning committee will be able to make initial comments on both proposals at their next meeting on Tuesday.
An internal report written in advance of the meetings, states: "Based on local knowledge of local issues and wider concerns, members are invited to identify any matters relevant to the proposal."
Both notices can be viewed in full HERE along with better quality images.
