Iain Kenneth of Macduff Street, Lossiemouth appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court on Tuesday (June 20) and admitted downloading and possessing five videos of the most extreme kind on his mobile phone and laptop devices which were seized by police.

Further analysis also discovered another two images and a video of children between the ages of three and seven. They were all downloaded between November 12, 2021 and June 12, 2022.

Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald heard that police received intelligence that the material had been accessed and Kenneth's house was raided on August 8, 2022.

Fiscal depute Pauline Gair told the court: "He said to police 'I am really not what you think I am. I got this idea in my head after I saw some Tik Tok videos about people that hunt paedophiles. In hindsight, it was a bad idea. It's so easy to find them.'

Sentence was deferred until July 20 for a background report.
