The trial of an Elgin policeman accused of sending explicit pictures of himself to a domestic abuse victim has been adjourned due to illness.

Kyle Mackinnon was set to take the stand at Elgin Sheriff Court today but was twice ill shortly before the proceedings began.

The 38-year-old is pleading not guilty to sending the images via the Snapchat social media site. In addition, he denies trying to kiss the woman against her will.

The alleged offences date back to the end of 2018, when he was stationed in Keith.

The case was part-heard in February, before being adjourned until today due to time and the absence of a cybercrime expert.

New dates for the trial have been rescheduled for May 18 and June 16.
