A woman ran up a £210 taxi fare on a journey from Inverness to Elgin and back and then didn't pay the fare.

Erin Birse, of Glendoe Terrace, Inverness appeared by video link at Inverness Sheriff Court and admitted defrauding the driver of the fare from Balloan Road to multiple locations and back to Balloan Road on November 21, 2021.

Birse also pleaded guilty to stealing a £100 pair of hair straighteners from Boots in Eastgate Shopping Centre and cosmetics worth £64 from Superdrug's High Street store in Inverness. The offences were committed on March 23, 2023.

Defence solicitor John MacColl said his client was on remand for another matter to call on November 23 and Sheriff Robert Frazer deferred sentence until that date.
