Elgin's Mystery Crocheter has struck yet again in their mission to spread a little happiness.

These little woolly creations began appearing shortly before Christmas at various locations around the town.

And now Moray's very own version of the hit-and-run artist Banksy has created several more in the build-up to Valentine's Day.

Laura Scott was thrilled to find a beautifully crocheted tea set on a bollard outside her café, The Ditsy Teacup, on Thunderton Place.

A short message attached says: "Happy Valentines. My aim is to make someone smile today. I really hope it's you."

Eager to find out who had done such a nice thing, Laura checked her CCTV.

But footage, from 9.30pm the previous night, only showed a wrapped-up figure wearing a mask and a baseball cap.

Laura says: "They clearly don't want to be recognised, but what they're doing has really succeeded in cheering up a lot of people."

There are four of the little woollen creations on top of different bollards on Thunderton Place.

Two more are on postboxes in Greyfriars Road and Bishopmill.

Some are signed 'Random Acts of Crochet Kindness'.

Laura reckons the Mystery Crocheter could be one of her customers at the café, but has no idea which.

She said: "Whoever it is, they are lovely and it's a wonderful thing to do.

"You can see everyone stopping outside to have a look.

"Loads of people are also taking photos. It's brilliant."

Next door is The Pop Shop which sells sci-fi and adventure games and figures.

Owner Peter Ralston believes the Mystery Crocheter might also frequent his shop because the bollard outside now sports two little woollen aliens.

He said: "They're great. Everyone seems to really like them, including me."

One last thing.

Here's a direct message to the Mystery Crocheter, whoever you are.

We are at Northern Scot absolutely love your work.

If you have time to make something little and newspaper-themed, our office is on South Street.
