A man who was arrested last year near Dufftown in a stolen ambulancehas been jailed.

Graham Ellis took the vehicle while it was attending a call-out in Kemnay at around 6.20am on November 18.

Ellis then led police in a 40-mile pursuit as he drove the ambulance north through Aberdeenshire and into Moray.

He was finally halted after a stinger unit was deployed to burst the vehicle's tyres.

When breathalysed Ellis gave a reading of 32 – nearly one and a half times the legal limit of 22.

The 40-year-old was jailed for three years at Aberdeen Sheriff Court today.
