A MORAY man who choked his partner until she lost consciousness has been jailed for 18 months at Inverness Sheriff Court.

But Brodie Findlay (25), from Lhanbryde, should be released within a matter of weeks as he was remanded in custody on September 18, 2023, for repeatedly breaching a bail condition not to contact the woman.

Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald backdated his sentence until then but also imposed a one-year non-harassment order to prevent Findlay contacting the woman again.

His solicitor Brent Lockie told the court: "As he puts it, the relationship is 100 per cent over.

“He lost his employment when he was remanded but that job is still open to him.

"He knows he is the author of his own misfortune but this has been a wake up call for him and he appears to be turning a corner."

Findlay admitted assaulting the woman to her injury repeatedly on December 28 and 29, 2022, by seizing her by the neck, pushing her into a wall and onto a sofa, restricting her breathing and causing her to lose consciousness, all while shouting at her and all to her injury.

He also pleaded guilty to the bail breach.
