The call for a minute's silence has come from Barry Weiland Jarvis of Moray Trades Union Council.

Barry Weiland-Jarvis, council secretary, said the minute’s silence on Tuesdaym April 28 at 11am on International Workers Memorial Day is more appropriate than ever.

He said: “This years theme is Coronavirus. This virus has claimed thousands of lives across Scotland and the UK, many of those front line workers who almost certainly came into contact with the virus through their job.

“The trade union movement will continue to support the fight to ensure that workers rights to safe work places are upheld.”
