Tom Meighan, the former lead singer of Kasabian, will headline the final night of a three-day music festival taking place in Moray this summer.

The Live by the Sea weekender is being staged at the Lossiemouth Beach Hut from Friday, August 23 to Sunday, August 25.

A spokesman for the festival's organisers said: "We are beyond excited to announce Tom Meighan as our Sunday evening special guest.

"A born frontman with an unmatched ability to get a crowd jumping, Tom has just finished a sold-out UK acoustic tour, and with live shows throughout the summer, including a support slot with his friend Noel Gallagher, his sights are firmly set on the future.

"We are absolutely thrilled to have him complete our already packed line-up with a 90-minute full band headline set."

Moray promoter Scott Divers and Aberdeen DJ Ed Fennell are organising Live by the Sea, which follows on from

two earlier events during September and December at the venue overlooking Lossiemouth's West Beach.

Amongst the other acts already confirmed is Bez from Happy Mondays.

The 59-year-old – real name Mark Berry – shot to fame as the Manchester indie band's maraca player and dancer, performing on hits like 'Step On', 'Hallelujah', 'Loose Fit' and 'Kinky Afro' during the 1990s.

He then joined singer Shaun Ryder in forming spin-off band Black Grape, won Celebrity Big Brother in 2005 and began DJ-ing at clubs and festivals.

Also confirmed are DJ Andy Smith, who worked on acclaimed 90s band Portishead's first two albums, plus Kyle Falconer, who was the frontman with Scottish Indie rockers The View.

The bill also includes both UK techno DJ James Zabiela and Glasgow-born DJ and producer Gary Beck.

In addition, four-piece indie band Neon Waltz will perform, as will The Clashed – a top-rated tribute band of punk legends The Clash.

Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult and are only permitted on the Friday and Sunday.
