A PAIR of care homes in Keith aiming to reduce social isolation are gearing up to bring their next community initiative to town.

Keith Cares Club is a community partnership run by Glenisla and Weston View care homes. The aim is to tackle social isolation, bridge the generational gap and foster closer connections between home residents and the wider community.

After the success of their debut event last month - a Spring Tea - the two homes are launching a community lunch club and hope to make it a regular event.

The maiden event is due to be held at the Longmore Community Hall on Friday, May 24.

The homes are led by colleagues and friends Brenda Harper and Shona Conlin, who first met at Buckie High School in 1980.

Brenda Harper, manager at Glenisla, said: “The lunch club is one of a number of ideas we have to strengthen community ties and combat social isolation within Keith.

“It's not just about sharing a meal, it's about nourishing new relationships.”

Shona Conlin, manager of Weston View, added: "We are excited to provide a space where residents and members of the local community can come together, share a meal and forge meaningful connections.”
