A Moray schoolgirl has launched a fundraising appeal to help vulnerable children affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ten-year-old Lola Toogood from Portessie has set herself a 10 day running challenge to raise money for the MFR Cash for Kids appeal.

.

The challenge will see Lola run round Portessie Primary School’s sports ground 10 times each day, the equivalent of 25 miles over 100 laps.

Six days into the challenge, Lola has raised £1479, smashing her original target of £150.

.

Mum Lisa, who works for Parklands Care Homes in Buckie, said: "Lola decided to raise money for Cash for Kids to support families and children in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"She feels very lucky to be able to have the little luxuries in life and wanted to help those families and children who are less fortunate."

.

Parklands Care Homes has agreed to match Lola’s final fundraising tally pound for pound.

Managing director Ron Taylor said: "Lola has been an inspiration and we are all very proud of her.

"Cash for Kids is a fantastic charity that works hard to support vulnerable kids across the region and we are delighted to support Lola’s fundraising challenge."
