AN ANIMAL sanctuary is hosting a festive fundraising event.

Willows Animal Sanctuary provides a home for many animals who have faced challenges and real adversity.

It is having a Christmas event on Sunday, November 19 from 10.30am.

You can visit the animals and also do some shopping in the gift shop.

The sanctuary and assisted therapy unit is at Lambhill Farm, New Pitsligo.

The sanctuary was founded in 1998 and obtained charity status a year later.

It is the largest ethically managed, equine, farm and domestic animal sanctuary in Scotland and will try to help any animal in distress.

It looks after more than 500 animals including over 100 horses, ponies and donkeys, approximately 50 cats, dogs and many reptiles as well as over 200 farm animals and birds.

It is totally dependent on donations, legacies and grants to keep running.

It specialises in helping elderly or more vulnerable animals that have already been refused help by well-known large national charities, but it can only continue to help needy animals with public support.
