SCOTRAIL have announced that a new late train will run from Inverness to Elgin as part of their updated timetable.

Currently, the latest train leaving Inverness towards Elgin is the 9.34pm service which goes to Aberdeen.

However, that is due to change on December 10, when Scotrail's new timetable is introduced.

The train operator has announced that they will trial a train which will leave Inverness at 10.12pm and arrives into Elgin at 10.59pm.

Elgin will be the train's final stop. It will call at Inverness Airport, Nairn and Forres.

The aforementioned 9.34pm train from Inverness to Aberdeen will continue to run as normal and will remain the latest service that people in Elgin can get to head towards Aberdeen.

This train stops in Elgin at 10.16pm and arrives into Aberdeen at 11.46pm.
