A concert to raise money for the charity was held at Elgin Town Hall on Saturday, May 20. The show was organised by local cover band MacTa who performed with fellow musicians Tom Morris, The Fragz and Cecilia.

MacTa bassist Mark Aldridge said: "We decided to organise the gig to support Out of Darkness Theatre Company, our lead singer Callum and keyboard player Angus have both been involved with the charity over the years, so we know how much good work they do and we wanted to help them out."

The concert raised £1100 for the charity, which helps to enable people with learning challenges to express themselves through the creative arts. The show also provided an opportunity for Moray musicians to showcase their talents.

Mark added: "It is always good to do things for charity and it was a great night, every band throughout the night played really well and everyone seemed to enjoy it.

"Its really good to have something like that happen and be supported by the local community, and it is a great opportunity for local bands to play a venue like the town hall. Thanks to everyone who came along and to Elgin town hall and the volunteers who helped to make it possible."

The theatre group’s business manager Mark Sellars said: "This fantastic amount will be used towards our future productions and upgrading our existing equipment which will benefit our members learning experience to develop their key interpersonal skills to build confidence and resilience through performance."
