Moray band MacTa are a sixpiece group and perform covers across a wide range of styles from classic pop, rock and roll, all the way to country and Scottish dance.

The group are used to more intimate performances at wedding venues but thrived during their opportunity to showcase their talents to thousands.

Mark Aldridge, the bassist of MacTa, said: “It’s great to see the local bands get a chance amongst these international artists. It was an excellent set up and a good range of bands as well.

“It’s a different environment to our norm with the massive size of the audience. It's certainly a different experience to play in front of a crowd that size.”

The band credits MacMoray with helping them gain recognition and establish their musical identity further in the local area.

Callum McLeod, lead singer, said: “You bump into people in the post office, and they will be like, “You’re in MacTa! You were at MacMoray!” and it’s great to get that kind of recognition.”

The group would love to return to MacMoray next year if asked.

Other local groups such as Bad Actress, Be Like Pablo, Moray District Pipe Band and the Mackay Mini Pipe Band played to the 10,000-strong crowd across the weekend.

Moray Concert Brass also took to the second stage on Saturday and gave a glowing showcase of the talent of local artists.
