LOCAL business members picked up their golf clubs and swung into action as they took part in a fundraiser with the aim of saving lives.

More than 50 members of the local business community came together to raise funds for a defibrillator at Elgin Golf Club on October 14.

The golf day, organised by Darroch and Allan, resulted in participants raising more than £1000.

The winning team was Grant Fletcher, Darcy Maddison, Andrew Fordyce and Adam Jays, with the competition a texas scramble.

Grant Fletcher and Jim Munro worked together to organise the event and were both thankful for the support they received.

Grant said: “We managed to reach our targets and I’m beyond delighted. I really can’t complain.

“There aren’t any defibrillators this side of town. A couple of my colleagues have had heart attacks and they are definitely becoming more common these days.

"We are glad the defibrillator has been made possible and can help to save lives in the future.”

The organisers thanked their boss, Andrew Fordyce, for supporting them in their organisation of the event.

Many local companies participated – including Hendersons, Tony Mone, Campbell and McHardy, Highland Industrial Supplies and the Woodcentre.

Prizes were also donated by other companies which helped the fundraiser reach its target.
