The Galley chip shop in the town will remain shut until he has tested negative for Covid-19.

If the test is positive then the closure may be longer term.

Owner Andrea Steel wrote on social media: "Our son appears to have the cold and flu-like symptoms, as do many people at the moment.

"However, given the current situation and the issued governments guidance, we have contacted the NHS and he has been advised to get a Covid-19 test carried out to be on the safe side.

"I know this might be an inconvenience, it is to us too, but yours, our staff and family's safety is paramount.

"So, with immediate effect the shop will be closed until we have clarification that it is just the normal lurgy that he has and not Covid-19.

"We should have the test results back within 24 hours. Fingers crossed it comes back negative and we can get back to doing what we love as soon as we possibly can.

"Stay safe and be alert everyone."
