A LOSSIEMOUTH girl who raised almost £3000 for charity after her dad was diagnosed with cancer has been recognised at the Moray and Banffshire Heroes Awards.

The youngster was inspired to raise money for Macmillan after her father Francis was diagnosed with cancer of the voice box last year.

She said: "It meant a lot to win the award, I was really proud and happy that people voted for me."

Robyn raised £2850 for Macmillan by taking part in the charity's Walk 100K With Your Dog challenge in November.

Her initial aim was to raise £50, but the local community generously supported her efforts.

When asked what inspired her to undertake the challenge, Robyn added: "Because dad was in hospital and I wanted to give back to the people who were helping him.

"And I was going to have to take my dog out on a walk anyway, so I might as well raise some money!"

Mum Lynne Jamieson, who is depute head at Mosstodloch Primary School, added: "We are so proud of Robyn.

"She is such a kind and thoughtful girl and always thinks of others before herself."

Robyn hopes to follow in her mother's footsteps and work as a teacher one day.
