Folk in Lossie are attempting to paint poppies on 240 stones – one for each of the men honoured on the town's war memorial.

A community council spokesperson said: "The Lossiemouth War Memorial has the names of 240 soldiers from Lossiemouth and Drainie who died in World War One and Two.

"This year we will not be able to remember them the way that we normally would, but that does not mean we will not remember them.

"We are asking that members of the community paint a poppy on a rock in remembrance of these brave souls and leave them along the old railway platform at Station Park, which is most likely the last place any of them stood in Lossiemouth.

"We are hoping to have one for each of these 240 names, and if there is anyone specific that you would like to remember please put their name on the back of your stone.

"Help us remember, lest we forget."
