PUPILS from Lossiemouth High School sold self-made products at an event in the Eastgate Centre in Inverness.

A Lossie High team joined students from all over the Highlands and Moray at the annual Young Enterprise Christmas trade fair on Saturday, December 9.

The Lossie team – called Aqua Glass – did a roaring trade with their sea glass pictures at the market, which reported a record total sales of more than £2000.

Young Enterprise Scotland programmes in Highland and Moray run in partnership with local schools and businesses across the area and provide young people with a real-life learning opportunity that introduce them to the realities of the world of work.

Over the course of a year, teams from individual schools learn how to run a successful business by designing and making products, marketing them and managing the financial side of the business.

The scheme is aimed at teenagers between 15 and 19 and teams are supported by teachers, a volunteer business adviser from the local community, and an area team.

Linda Thomas, Chair of Young Enterprise Scotland Highland and Moray, said: “Our judges were really impressed with the quality, range and design of the products on sale at the trade fair and how confidently the teams sold their products to the public.

“The trade fair is a great way for young people to learn about marketing and telling the stories behind their products.

"The enthusiasm of all the teams taking part was outstanding and we are delighted with the progress they have made since they started the programme earlier this year.”
