HARRY Heeps has been making the journey up to Elgin from Falkirk for the past 40 years to buy his clothes.

Harry, who will be 100 in July, was back once again at the Emporium men's clothes shop on Elgin High Street at the end of last week.

The shop's owners Ghulam Rasil and Nasir Mahmud marked the occasion by giving the 99-year-old a special presentation of a shirt and some handkerchiefs.

Harry was looking tanned and fit, having spent a sunshine-blessed week at a caravan in Burghead in the company of his daughter Janet.

He said: "I like good quality clothes. That's why I like coming to this shop."

Harry worked as a motor mechanic until the outbreak of the Second World War when he was employed on the docks at Leith. He then became an driver for the NHS before retiring.

Ghulam said: "Harry is a very loyal customer. He's also a very nice man."
