IT was a case of going Dutch for MacMoray Festival on Sunday night – with Europop sensations Alice Deejay and Vengaboys signing off a scintillating weekend of music at Cooper Park.
Alice Deejay – famous for her smash hit Better Off Alone – took to the stage at around 7.30pm, before Vengaboys – returning after playing at the Elgin festival in 2022 – topped the show.
Similar to last year, the Vengaboys, from Rotterdam, took the roof off at Cooper Park with crowds, both young and old, bouncing and signing along to the late 90s pop sensations.
Judith Pronk, from Amsterdam, who fronts Alice Deejay, even admitted feeling emotional at the reception she was met with by the Moray crowd.
"It was amazing," she said. "I was a bit overwhelmed by all of the energy and the love. There was a point where I was like 'I have to suck it in or I'm going to cry'.
"There were so many young people and very small kids and everybody of different ages was having fun. I loved it so much that this was a family festival.
"It was wicked. We would love to come back next year if we are invited."
Alice Deejay played a 40-minute set that included several of their own hits, along with some well-known pop classics.
After that – summing up the weekend's vibe – she hung around to watch the Vengaboys perform, dancing around in the VIP area with other festival go-ers.
Vengaboys put on a show to match expectations set last year, with beach balls, confetti and vengabucks fired out to the crowd.
After a show which included lively renditions of Boom Boom Boom Boom and We're Going To Ibiza, Vengaboys made time back stage for photos with adoring fans before heading off.
Whether they are one of the seven bands that are already booked for MacMoray 2024 remains to be seen!
