IT'S next stop Elgin for railway enthusiasts this weekend for the annual Modelfair exhibition.

Elgin Model Railway Club will display an array of model railway layouts at Elgin Town Hall on Saturday and Sunday, November 2-3, including the club’s newest layout, Tyock Junction.

Last year's winners of Channel 5's Great Model Railway Challenge, Aberdeen Model Railway Club, will be there with their winning layout "City of Tiers".

It doesn't stop with just trains – there will be exhibits of boats, planes and road vehicles of all shapes and sizes, and old favourites like Meccano.

And, of course, Thomas is included in the line-up.

Quoyloo stone building models, from Orkney, will make a return appearance after their exhibit proved to be very popular two years ago.

The event will feature Lego, both buildings and Star Wars models, as well as displays of military modelling. The Elgin Wargames Group will be "fighting" the Battle of the Five Armies from the Napoleonic era.

Local hobby suppliers will also be on hand with new models and materials.

The exhibition will be open from 10am-5pm on Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday. Admission costs £6 for adults, £5 for seniors, £4 for children, £15 for a family ticket and under-fives go free. A buffet of hot and cold refreshments will run throughout the day.
