Police confirm man (56) dead after Moray crash on A941 near Craigellachie

POLICE have confirmed that a 56-year-old man has died following a crash on the A941 yesterday.

A car and an HGV were involved in a collision near the junction to the A95 in Craigellachie at around 4.25pm on Tuesday (April 23).

Three fire appliances and a heavy rescue unit were mobilised while an air ambulance was also called to the scene.

Crews left at around 6pm.

The 56-year-old male rear passenger of a Vauxhall Crossland was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver and two other passengers were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The driver of the Mercedes HGV was not injured.

The road was closed while crash investigations were carried out but it was fully reopened at around 8am today (April 24).

Police say enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident and officers are appealing for information.

Road Policing Sergeant Iain Nicolson said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died and everyone involved in this incident.

“As our enquiries continue, I’d appeal to anyone with information to come forward.

“I’d be particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened or has dashcam footage of the area around the time.”
