Man (24) arrested after assault at property on Elgin's Morriston Road leaves 35-year-old in hospital

AN ARREST has been made after an assault at a property on Elgin's Morriston Road left a 35-year-old man in hospital.

Enquiries are underway after officers were called to the incident – at a home along the road from Bishopmill Primary School and Elgin Academy – on New Year's Day.

The call was made shortly before 1pm, with police arresting a 24-year-old man and an ambulance taking a 35-year-old to hospital.

Locals told of a 'police raid' at the property, with officers then remaining on the scene overnight and until around 11am today (January 2).

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 12.45pm on Monday, January 1, 2024 officers were called to reports of an assault on Morriston Road, Elgin.

"Emergency services attended and a 35-year-old man was taken to hospital by ambulance.

"A 24-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident. Enquiries are ongoing.”
