A 90-year-old woman who embarked in April on a staircase challenge for the NHS has just 10 more flights to go.

Margaret Payne is aiming to climb the stairs at her Sutherland home 282 times.

That's the equivalent of 2398ft-high mountain Suilven.

As she nears the end of her challenge, she has already raised £418,130 for the NHS, Highland Hospice and RNLI, when Gift Aid is included.

Margaret first reached the summit of Suilven in 1944 at the age of 15, with her elder sister Elizabeth, two friends and dog Snowy, after being evacuated to Lochinver during World War II.

When she began her challenge in April her initial target was £10,000.

However, her endeavours have captured the hearts of people far and wide.

Margaret has been praised in the Scottish Parliament and also received a letter of congratulations from Prince Charles.
