An error by a courier firm saw private medical documents accidentally delivered to the home of a woman in Elgin.

The parcel from Lloyds Pharmacy contained the prescription records of numerous patients living in Milton Keynes near London.

It should have been delivered to the NHS prescriptions services office based in Bolton, near Manchester.

.

However, the parcel ended up going nearly an extra 400 miles north.

The woman told the Manchester Evening News: "It's got my name, address and phone number on it.

"There was a carrier bag with a stack of hundreds of prescriptions from places like Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes.

"It's got patients' names, ages, home addresses, the practices they've been to and what they've been prescribed.

"They're handwritten. It's quite worrying."

Lloyds Pharmacy says it was a courier error and steps have been taken to prevent a repeat.
