The stage is set, the date agreed and the challengers in place!

The Northern Scot and colleagues from parent company Highland News and Media will take on Moray Mental Health FC at Mosset Park in Forres.

Forres Mechanics have kindly agreed the use of their Highland League stadium for the eagerly anticipated clash on Friday, October 6 (gates open 6pm, kick-off 7pm).

Mikeysline - the mental health charity for Moray and the Highlands – will be the beneficiary from the game.

As HNM's charity of the year and official charity partner of Moray Mental Health FC, Mikeysline is the perfect cause.

Moray Mental Health FC was formed earlier this year by three friends to promote better mental health by providing a platform for men and women to come together in sport, and have the chance to talk.

They host regular sessions across Moray and can signpost people to support through Mikeysline, which has a text, WhatsApp and email support service, and face to face support at local hubs.

Matty Slinger, one of the founders of Moray Mental Health FC, said: "The sessions have been going really well and lots of people have been turning up every time.

"Mikeysline is a great charity and provides excellent support for people in crisis.

"We are looking forward to the match which will be great fun and raise money for a worthwhile cause."

Chris Saunderson, content editor with The Northern Scot, added: "We are proud to have Mikeysline as our charity of the year.

"Moray Mental Health FC are doing a great job and we look forward to a competitive and fun night at Mosset Park."

Entry on the night will be by donation and there will also be a raffle, with all proceeds going to Mikeysline.

A cash bar will be open in the main stand at Mosset Park on the night.

Emily Stokes, chief executive of Mikeysline, said: "We are delighted that Highland News and Media and Moray Mental Health FC are joining forces to promote our services and help raise money.

"Football is a great vehicle for promoting mental health and the message that it is 'OK to not be OK' and turn to Mikeysline and others for help."
