SCOTTISH band Mogwai headlined an exclusive gig at The Macallan Distillery.
The Speyside distillery has worked with the band who have composed and recorded an original piece of music.
Titled ‘The Reach’, the music tells the story of The Macallan’s legacy and The Reach, the distillery’s oldest whisky to date, which was put in a cask in 82 years ago.
Tuesday night's gig (July 26) was the first time The Reach has been performed live.
The Reach is a single malt whisky which has been created by a lineage of craftspeople and is a celebration of people coming together to create something extraordinary.
When composing and creating their own music, Mogwai also look to nature as a key source of inspiration; another shared value which is at
the heart of The Macallan.
London-based photographer Nadav Kander has captured a series of still and moving images and has created a film to convey the enduring spirit and passing of time.

The film has been set to the original piece of music composed and recorded by Mogwai.
As part of the partnership, The Macallan has also filmed Mogwai in their recording studio at work to capture the making of the original score and interviewed the band for The Macallan in Collaboration series.
Mogwai are Dominic Aitchison, Stuart Braithwaite, Martin Bulloch and Barry Burns. Formed in 1995, the group have released 10 studio albums, two live albums, seven soundtrack albums plus five compilation albums that feature a ‘best of’, two sets of remixes, rarities and a BBC Radio John Peel Sessions album, and a plethora of singles and extended players.
The most recent album released in February 2021, As The Love Continues, scored the band its first UK Album Chart Number 1 and first Billboard US Album Sales Chart Top 10, along with being shortlisted as one of Hyundai Mercury Music Prize’s Albums of the Year.
The Reach was put in a cask in 1940 and is the oldest whisky ever released by the brand.
