VOTING has opened for the Moray and Banffshire Heroes Awards.
Locals will be given the chance to decide their Primary Teacher of the Year in one of 12 categories.
People have until March 26 to cast their votes – at www.hnmedia.co.uk/morayheroes – before winners are revealed on Thursday, April 20, at Brodie Countryfare.
A special Hero of Heroes will also be announced on the night.
Three women are up for Primary Teacher of the Year, which is being sponsored by William R. Mair Funeral Directors.
These are pupil support assistant Lisa Blud, Laura Ince at St Gerardine's Primary and Emma Rose at Hythehill Primary.
Lisa Blud
Lisa Blud has been supporting children with additional needs in her role as a Pupil Support Assistant for more than 25 years.
Over the last six years she has worked with deaf children, but has also worked with those with autism and Down's Syndrome.
Mrs Blud said she was "overwhelmed" to receive the nomination.
Laura Ince
Laura Ince has been described as a "truly inspiration teacher" after her work in helping Primary Seven pupils transition to high school.
Ms Ince has been working at St Gerardine's in Lossiemouth for five years and said she was "incredibly lucky to work with such an amazing team".
Emma Rose
Primary One teacher Emma Rose has been described as an inspiration to Hythehill Primary School's youngest pupils.
Inspired by her sister, who is profoundly deaf, Ms Rose teaches P1s at the Lossiemouth school British Sign Language on top of the curriculum.
On her nominated, Emma said: "I was really shocked, a bit embarrassed, but quite touched really."
