It's a good day when you celebrate your 11th birthday.

It's even better when you can bounce around on a trampoline in the sun.

But when you get a personal message from your all-time hero it becomes something you'll remember for the rest of your life.

Callum Stewart from Elgin was stunned earlier today when he saw the tweet from Lewis Hamilton.

Lewis wrote: "Happy birthday Callum. Hope you have a great one."

The message came about after Callum's mum Claire posted some photos on the F1 Nerds online site.

Claire, who lives in Bishopmill has spent the last fortnight of lockdown preparing for Callum's birthday.

Working in secret in the family's garage and late at night she has created a whole series of items associated with Formula One.

There's a winner's podium made out of cardboard, plus some racing starting lights.

Impressed after seeing Claire's efforts, Lewis took it on himself to show his appreciation.

Callum has met Lewis several times.

For the last four years running he's gone to Silverstone to watch the British Grand Prix.

Each time, he's hung around after the race – once for five hours – to talk to Lewis.

In fact, he's such a fan that in his bedroom he's even got a collection of rubber strips – called marbles – which fell off Lewis's tyres during a race.

Callum, who goes to Bishopmill Primary, wants to be a Formula One mechanic when he's older.

He said: "My dad, Barry, has supported Lewis ever since he started racing – and I like him a lot too.

"I think he's the best."
