The Scottish Beauty Industry Awards 2023 was a big night for Moray, with Hailey Dallas Brows and Ultimate Hair and Beauty both receiving recognition. The awards ceremony, now in its fifth year, celebrated the best hair and beauty professionals from across the country.

Hailey Dallas, the owner of Hailey Dallas Brows in Lhanbryde, earned one of the night's top awards for Semi-Permanent Makeup Salon of the Year. Hailey initially began her career as a make-up artist before training to become a specialist in microblading, a type of tattooing which adds semi-permanent pigment to the skin, giving the appearance of fuller brows.

Hailey said: "I really love it, it's great for people who have lost their brows due to illness, or even from overplucking. It's always great for people to get their brows back and it's really rewarding to see people get such a confidence boost, it just changes peoples faces and makes them feel better about themselves, there have been lots of tears of joy in the salon over the years."

Attending the awards ceremony at the Marriott Hotel in Glasgow, Hailey was joined by her daughter, Dionne, who has followed in her mum's footsteps and also works in the beauty industry.

Despite going to the event as a finalist, Hailey admitted that the win took her by surprise. She said: "It was a bit unexpected, but the ceremony was really good, with a fantastic atmosphere. Everyone was very supportive of each other, and it was a really lovely night – I'm very grateful to be in this position."

Also representing Moray at the awards was Ultimate Hair and Beauty owner, Catherine Smith, who took home the award for 5 Star Hair Salon North. It was Catherine's fourth time being nominated for the award and the win was made even more special because it coincides with the team's one year anniversary in their new premises, which opened on 25 High Street last October.

Catherine said: "I was over the moon to win the award, we're all really chuffed.

"We are just a small team of four but everyone works really hard and this just proves that it pays off."

She added: "Having two winners from Moray is great for our area as well, we are smaller up here but having two wins for the whole of Scotland just shows that the standards are high up here."
