ARMY Cadets from Moray have returned as the top Scottish team at a national shooting competition.

Cadet Corporal Jakub Bialkowski (16) and Cdt Cpl Ben Hayllar (15) from Elgin Detachment and Cdt Cpl Jennifer Calder (16) and Cdt Cpl Leah Goodman (16) from Forres Detachment represented the 1st Battalion The Highlanders at the Inter-Service Cadet Rifle Meeting (ISCRM), held at Bisley Rifle Ranges in Surrey.

The competition saw the Moray cadets, along with Cpl Andy Tait from the Battalion’s Dingwall Detachment, fire the Cadet Target Rifle at 300, 500 and 600 yards, competing against over 380 youngsters in 90 teams from the UK’s three cadet services.

Guest teams from the Royal Canadian Army Cadets and the Hong Kong Air Cadets were also included in this year's competition.

The team qualified for the competition after finishing third in the Scottish Cadet Target Rifle Meeting back in May. Their placing in the Scottish meet did not hinder them by finishing as the Top Scottish Team of ISCRM.

They were presented with their badges during the Battalion’s annual two-week camp in Warcop, which took place immediately after the competition.
