MORAY Council's care at home service has been rated as "very good" by inspectors following an unannounced Care Inspectorate inspection last month.

The high quality of a service providing care and support to people in Moray has been widely praised by inspectors and service users.

The service, which is managed on behalf of Health and Social Care Moray by Moray Council, was the subject of unannounced inspections over five days in November.

Inspectors spoke to people using the service, their families and staff, and also observed practice and reviewed documents to assess the quality of the service.

In a report published last week, the service was awarded grades of 5 (very good) in all four areas inspected - support of people's wellbeing; leadership; staff; and planning of care and support.

The Moray-wide service supports and enables people to live independently within their own homes for as long as they are able and it is safe to do so, providing up to 4,000 hours of care each week.

Service users told how they received an “excellent standard of care” and described staff as “guardian angels” and “very special people with hearts of gold”.

Simon Bokor-Ingram, Chief Officer of Health & Social Care Moray, said: "This is a fantastic report and highlights the excellent work provided by the Care at Home Service.

"I would like to offer my congratulations and thanks to all of the team members - this really is well deserved and is a reflection of their dedication and professionalism.”

John Campbell, Provider Services Manager, said he was proud the continued focus on improvement by the service meant its quality rating had gone up from a 4 (good) from the previous inspection in 2020.

He said: “We are delighted to have the professionalism and hard work of staff recognised by the Care Inspectorate following last month’s inspection.

"To have achieved such a high quality rating at a time when social care services nationally continue to be under extreme pressure is testament to the unwavering commitment shown by our teams.

“I would like to thank all colleagues for their continued dedication and resilience.

"What you do each and every day - including on Christmas Day and over the festive period - to care for and support residents and their families in our community is very much appreciated.”
