MORAY'S leading business organisation is on the move.

The Moray Chamber of Commerce has temporarily relocated to the new Moray Sports Centre in Linkwood, Elgin.

The chamber, which is also the home of Moray Speyside Tourism, took up an office at the new multimillion-pound centre last week.

However, the arrangement is temporary, pending the outcome of the Tourism Business Improvement District campaign in the new year. The move also comes after the recent transfer of Developing the Young Workforce operations to UHI Moray College and the changing business requirements of the tourism and chamber teams.

Moray Speyside Tourism has operated under the auspices of Moray Chamber since 2014. The organisation is campaigning for a Business Improvement District (Bid) – which will determine its future. The tourism industry will have their say on the future of tourism in Moray Speyside, with results expected from the ballot in the new year.

Upon the outcome of the ballot, both the Moray Speyside Tourism and Moray Chamber teams will seek to secure a long-term premises, with both organisations still under one roof to support the ongoing collaborative work.

Sarah Medcraf, chief executive of Moray Chamber of Commerce, said: "I am delighted that the chamber has a new, albeit temporary home in Moray Sports Centre. It’s a wonderful building with great facilities and I’m very much looking forward to welcoming chamber members to our new office at an event in the next few weeks.

"Our move to Moray Sports Centre allows us to continue to provide great service to our members. With meeting room space for hire and Cobbs Café for more informal meetings, as well as great parking, we can continue to be the go-to networking organisation in the region."

Olympic Gold medal winner Heather Stanning MBE will cut the ribbon at the official opening of Moray Sports Centre on Friday, August 30.
