TWO Moray charities will receive a share of £25,000 after being named among three shortlisted causes.
Keiran’s Legacy and Outfit Moray will be given either a £5000 or £15,000 cut of the funding.
The final amount awarded to the charities as part of Scotmid’s Community Connect initiative will be voted on by Scotmid members – with the results to be announced next April.
Keiran's Legacy provides defibrillators and defibrillator training to communities and businesses throughout the north of Scotland.
The funding will provide the charity the opportunity to expand their reach and continue their mission to prevent deaths from cardiac arrest.
Sandra McKandie, chair of Keiran’s Legacy, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be shortlisted for Community Connect funding.
“The funding will transform and save lives.”
Outfit Moray supports disadvantaged children across the region from the ages of eight to 18.
The charity aim to build young people's confidence and skills through a range of outdoor activities, such as kayaking, canoeing, archery, mountain biking and rock climbing.
According to Outfit Moray, the funding will be used to create free of charge activity days for children in the north east.
Tony Brown, CEO of Outfit Moray, said: “We are honoured that Outfit Moray has been shortlisted for Scotmid Community Connect funding.
“We hope that our project supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged young people is lucky enough to receive votes from Scotmid members.”
Previous winners from Moray include Moray School Bank and Burghead Community Hall.
Inverness-based inSpire are the third shortlisted charity, who provide food, clothes and school supplies to families in need.
