MORAY residents in need due to the cost of living crisis can now access support through a new service provided by Moray Citizens Advice Bureau (Moray CAB).

The Empower Project now allows the bureau to provide an adviser on financial support for a three-year period.

They are available to provide support to members of the public with budgeting, benefit checks, debt, form filing, and income maximisation.

Moray CAB manager Mary Riley says the bureau understands the struggle many people in Moray are facing with everyday purchases, like the rising prices of fuel and food items.

She encourages anyone in need of financial support to get in touch with Moray CAB.

She said: “This new adviser will enhance our existing team’s efforts to help people in Moray who are struggling with the cost of living.”

Financial help schemes from the UK and Scottish governments are also able to be sourced through the project.

The project was funded by the poverty and trauma charity The Robertson Trust, who provided Moray CAB a grant of £96,000.

Mrs Riley added: “My message to people across Moray is that if you are experiencing difficulties as a result of the rise of the cost of living, then contact us.

“There is no shame in asking for help, and we can often help people find untapped sources of income.

"We are here to help, our service is free, confidential, impartial and independent.”

Moray Citizens Advice Bureau’s offices are located at 6 Moss Street, Elgin, IV30 1LU.

Their Empower Project adviser can be contacted at 01343 610620.
