A total of 248 students graduated, 112 in the morning and 136 in the afternoon. Guest speaker was former Dallas Primary School and Forres Academy pupil and college graduate Lorna McNee (32) who is now a professional chef.

She said: "Life has been crazy and I would never have been where I am today if it wasn't for Moray College."

Student speaker was Ms Caroline Goodman, who moved to Moray to start a new life after suffering domestic abuse in Manchester.

She told the Northern Scot after her morning speech: "That was the scariest thing I've ever done. I'm not normally confident enough to do group presentations.

"The college has done so much for me and I can't thank everybody enough."

More in next week's Northern Scot and online.
